Whereas some compositions can get too dark too quickly I almost wonder if this one needs some heavier passages to play off the lighter ones. If this were music I'm hearing lots of violins and flutes and no cellos or bass. More contrast and more range of dark and light would add more tension to the arrangement. It might be nice for more internal elements to break free from all of those rectangles also (like the hair is starting to do).
